Not a single local has saluted in the race over the past decade, which is a testament to the races broad appeal and strong interstate contingent.

The Goodwood History
The Goodwood was first run in 1881 as the Goodwood Handicap, with the curiously named D.O.D. taking out the inaugural running.The race was run as a handicap for its first 121 years. This changed in 2007, necessitating the name change to The Goodwood. It was awarded Group One status in 1980.
Modern day champions Takeover Target and Black Caviar were both successful in the race.
Walter Hickenbotham has the record for the most wins as a trainer with five (1901,1902, 1906, 1901, 1910); Johnny Letts holds the jockeys' record with five wins (1961, 1972, 1973, 1977, 1984), his first coming at just 17 years of age.

If you've placed a Win/Place bet on horse in race (with TAB or another bookie) and your runner is scratched, you can get a refund equal to the value of your bet.

- Pay TV: In terms of Pay TV, one of the following channels: Sky Racing 1, Sky Racing 2 and Sky Thoroughbred Central will broadcast the Flight Stakes.
