Well fancied flops and forgives from Saturday's racing around the country
Here's our assessment of some of the more-fancied beaten runners from Saturday's racing at Hawkesbury and Caulfield.

FORGIVES
Kibou ($3.90F) - Hawkesbury R9 (1400m)
Ran sixth but was only beaten half a length in what was a blanket finish. Don't drop off him, he'll strip fitter for the run and be hard to hold out wherever they go next.
They couldn't split Rise Of The Masses and Fall For Cindy at @hawkesburyrc and it's a dead heat!

Signor Bill ($2.70F) - Caulfield R1 (1400m)
Career record of 4:1-3-0 but might benefit from a bigger field to set-up a nice race shape. Gets back and chases hard (what Patrick Payne horse doesn't?).

Mawallock ($1.70F) - Caulfield R2 (1100m)
Had every possible and was never a winning factor, but only first-up so you can probably forgive. She's won four of six and the market confidence suggests she was going OK into the fresh run. However, it turned out she got galloped on as she pulled up with a laceration on her left hind leg.

Shesallshenanigans ($4.40) - Caulfield R4 (1100m)
Was wide without cover in the run, and only went down 0.75L.
Pantelone ($5) - Caulfield R4 (1100m)
Pulled up lame and with a degree of mucus, which goes some way to explaining the 8th of 10, beaten 4.42L.

Philosopher ($5.50) - Caulfield R5 (1000m)
Pulled up with EIPH, which is an excuse for what was his first non-placing (four wins, two minor placings) in seven starts since returning from a long lay-off in December.

Yototsu ($8.50) - Caulfield R8 (2000m)
Second-up and straight to 2000m, there was a little bit of confidence we might see something from the filly - alas, a real start-stop-start tempo probably didn't suit after conceding a bit of a start and getting strung up behind horses. That said, didn't finish off great the last 100m or so, but might've been fitness giving way there. Inclined to forgive.

Berkeley Square ($2.80F) - Caulfield R9 (2000m)
The big wind-up horse couldn't run down the leader Midnight Blue, who got away with some cheap sectionals up front. Given his style, the 2000m at Flemington in Benchmark grade would be right up his alley (his only go that track/trip thus far was in a G1 Turnbull).

FORGET (SACK)
Butch Cassidy ($4) - Hawkesbury R7 (1400m)
Only won the one race and that came on debut. Butchered any winning hope after he missed the kick and failed to make any ground on Schwarz.

Spacewalk ($4) - Hawkesbury R5 (1100m)
Might have just found his level. Had his chance in Saturday's Hawkesbury Gold Rush but struggled to go with stablemate Parisal when she sprinted. Rare four-year-old gelding for Godolphin so it wouldn't shock to see him switch stables in the near future.

Midwest ($5EF) - Caulfield R5 (1000m)
Was within 1L of Asfoora when first-up in the spring. Came in with expectations first-up this prep, but petered out to be beaten 3.61L. Happy to be against next time out. Jockey reported the horse raced keenly when unable to get the outright lead, and said that affected his finish.
Grinzinger Belle ($4.40) - Caulfield R6 (1400m)
Now gone under her past three at $4.20, $7 and $4.40 - granted, one of those was a close 2nd in G3 grade. She found the lead but was unable to kick when beaten 2.5L, coming into Saturday off a five-week freshen.

Carini ($6.50) - Caulfield R7 (1600m)
Started the prep with two decent enough runs, then went under when odds-on, plus two weaker efforts in the G3 Easter Cup and Saturday.
Dashing off the canvas! 💪

JURY'S OUT
Trafalgar Square ($4.80) - Hawkesbury R1 (1400m)
Not completely sacking him given he's got plenty of racing ahead. Having said that, thought he had every chance but just couldn't pick them up in the Clarendon.

Chilly Filly ($3F) - Hawkesbury R10 (1100m)
Was too bad to be true in the final race of the card. Jockey Tim Clark couldn't find an excuse for the galloper and she's performed well on wet tracks previously. Was a bit of a head scratcher but was the first time she's displayed that sort of performance.
